Trademark Registration in Russia for Companies from China
I am a patent attorney of the Russian Federation specializing in trademarks. I represent Chinese companies before Rospatent, Russia's intellectual property office: I run the clearance search, file the application, answer the examiner and obtain the certificate. I work under a contract and pay the official fees on your behalf.

Why you need a Russian patent attorney

A Chinese company cannot file an application or correspond with Rospatent itself. The attorney acts under a power of attorney, and your company is the owner of the mark.
Protection is territorial
A registration in China is valid only in China. To protect a brand in Russia it has to be registered at Rospatent.
First to file wins
Priority is set by the filing date (Art. 1494). If a distributor or competitor files for your brand first, challenging that filing takes more time and money than filing on time yourself.
Marketplaces and customs
A Russian registration certificate is needed to protect your brand on Wildberries and Ozon, to enter it in the Russian customs register of intellectual property (TROIS) and to fight counterfeits. From March 1, 2027, the mark can also be confirmed in the product listing: see what changes.

Payment is accepted in Chinese yuan (CNY) by international bank transfer. Prices on this site are quoted in yuan and rounded; the exact amount is stated in the invoice.

Rospatent's official fees are set in rubles. They are converted to yuan here at the Bank of Russia's official rate of October 11, 2026 (RUB 12.67 per CNY 1) and rounded; the exact amount is stated in the invoice.

For manufacturers, IP agencies and companies with many brands. For 10 or more applications a month, the service fee is negotiated individually.

What Chinese brands should know
Characters, Latin letters, Cyrillic
For most Russian buyers Chinese characters are a picture, not a word. To protect the name, register its Latin or Cyrillic spelling, either as a separate mark or as part of a combined one.
Priority of a Chinese filing: 6 months
If your Chinese application was filed no more than 6 months ago, you can claim the same priority date in Russia (Art. 1495; Paris Convention for the Protection of Industrial Property).
No Chinese mark needed
The application goes straight to Rospatent. In Russia you can protect a new name or a Latin or Cyrillic version created especially for the Russian market.
The mark must be used
If a mark is not used in Russia for three years in a row after registration, an interested party can sue to have its protection terminated early (Art. 1486). Use by a licensee counts too.

Can a Chinese company file a trademark application with Rospatent itself?
No. Foreign legal entities and citizens permanently residing abroad conduct their affairs with Rospatent through a patent attorney registered with Rospatent (Russian Civil Code, Art. 1247(2)). The attorney acts under a power of attorney and your company becomes the owner.
Is a trademark registered in China valid in Russia?
No. Trademark protection is territorial: a registration in China is valid only in China. To protect a brand in Russia it must be registered at Rospatent.
How much does it cost to register a trademark in Russia?
Full service: CNY 3,200 for the work plus official fees from CNY 2,750 for one Nice class, from CNY 5,950 in total. Each additional class increases the official fees. I give the exact figure after assessing the mark.
How long does registration take?
Usually 8–12 months from the filing date, depending on Rospatent's workload and the number of examiner notices. The priority date is fixed on the day of filing.
How do I pay for the services and fees from China?
You pay one invoice in Chinese yuan (CNY) by international bank transfer. I pay Rospatent's fees on your behalf. The contract is in Russian or English.

The decision is Rospatent's, so no specialist can guarantee the result. I am responsible for the quality of the work: the search before filing, deadline control and well-argued replies to the examiner.
